We owe you so much. Some of you will never know just how much. Thankyou, on behalf of everyone.

If it were not for 'The few' I would never have been born.

To them and those who sacrificed their lives during that time, I am always grateful.:ok:

Taken from wikipedia RAF Fighter Command aircraft losses totalled 1087 from July 10 to October 30, 1940, including 53 twin engined fighters.[192] To the RAF figure should be added an additional 376 Bomber Command and 148 Coastal Command aircraft conducting bombing, mining, and reconnaissance operations in defence of the country

Those 'few' paid a pretty big price, yet they went back day after day.

Respect.

Just seen Sqn Ldr Geoffrey Wellum, whose excellent book First Light has often been referred to on this forum, on TV in the BBC report of today's celebrations from London. Delighted to say he is still fit and well and making a mockery of his 89 years. I've had the great honour of meeting him a few times and I am pleased to add my own congratulations to the sentiments already expressed on here.

Always in awe. Some of these guys had only 6 or so hours training before being thrown into combat. I had tea 6 hours ago!

I had tea 6 hours ago!

And many will say you still can't fly...

Much respect to those men and women who bore so much to ensure we have what we have now.
