Hello,

Does someone knows something about the EXPANSION WAVE or Prandtl–Meyer expansion fan
(Prandtl?Meyer expansion fan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prandtl%E2%80%93Meyer_expansion_fan)) ?

My questions are :

- Is the convex corner design used on supercritical airfoils to reduce the undesirable shockwave effects ? Is it a system/design installed on the wing of normal large transport airplanes ?

- I read that supercritical airfoils had a pronounced aft camber to reduce the shock wave effect. Is that aft camber working similarly as the convex corner and its expansion fan ? Or both things have nothing to do with each other ?

Thank you very much for your help;
Emmanuel Cordier.

The lower surface reflex camber is to restore the lift loss due to reduced upper surface camber. This is why it is often referred to as an aft-loaded wing.
