Hello,

A local radio station has just announced that two of the 'North-Easts biggest airports are going to close due to lack of baggage handlers and lack of security as we approach the busiest time of the year, August bank holiday'.

Does anybody know if this is true? How long might they be closed?

But BAA don't have any airports in the North-East.

I think they got their wires crossed.....N.E. Scotland would be Aberdeen. Glasgow and Edinburgh would also be affected.

No airports in North East England perhaps, but if is was a Scottish radio station it would refer to North East Scotland. Where BAA operate Aberdeen.

Now if it was a London station it would have been referring to Stansted, being in North East England... there is nothing past Watford dont you know! :)

The radio station was only a North-East (England) and North Yorkshire station.

Don't understand - nothing on any of the airport websites, news sites/ channels etc.

"North East" quite often refers to the North East of the UK - rather than just England - on TV weather forecasts.

What is this with banks in the UK? They seem to have regular "holidays"? :bored:
