For the AsA/CASA crew; when you're trying to involve aviation professionals in the decision-making/document wording/production process, you're costing the industry a fortune with personal travel to capital cities and hoping that someone other than airline employees will turn up to provide input. How about a little online document/project managment (if you can get it past your IT depts)? This will keep track of reviewed documents, accept revisions, like checking out a book from the library, is accessible by "invited" aviation professionals from anywhere and anytime with Internet access and it's a lot cheaper and far more wide reaching than all the airline flights.

you are assuming of course that CASA officials:
1/ want to keep costs down
2/ actually want input from people who know what they are doing
3/don't like little junkets to capital cities at the taxpayers expense, and don't collect frequent flyer points for personal use and,
4/can use the internet

apart from that, you make a good point.

Apache, ROFLMAO. :D

Is there still an annual northerly migration of public servants to CNS and DRW every winter? You used to be able to predict visits from Canberra by following the national weather forcast...once it dropped below 4C or so any department based in warm sunny climes would find themselves neck deep in Canberra refugees on suspiciously 'urgent' fact finding missions and facility tours.

A colleague used to call it the Galah Migration. Of course, there was not a galah to be seen come monsoon/mozzie season.
