A first-of-its-kind offer, no other airline in the region has offered all its passengers travelling within specific dates the full fare refund.

Dubai’s first low-cost airline, is giving all passengers a 100% reimbursement of their fare if they travel between August 15 and September 6 during Ramadan.

A first-of-its-kind offer, no other airline in the region has offered all its passengers travelling within specific dates the full fare refund, said a release.

Passengers will only have to pay for the taxes for certain flights booked before August 1 with travel dates between August 15 and September 6 and the fare will be given back to passengers in the form of a voucher via email on September 9, 2010.

Passengers receiving these vouchers would have the privilege of using them on any flydubai route and they will be valid until December 8, 2010.

flydubai CEO Gaith Al Gaith said: “Ramadan is the month of giving and a great time to connect with family and friends. We at flydubai are making it simple for our customers to reach out to their loved ones during the holy month of Ramadan. We believe in giving our customers genuine offers and schemes, which are not only exciting but also unmissable.”

The offer covers flydubai flights to and from Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, India, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Sudan.

Just like there are only 7 basic jokes in the world, also there are also only about 4 basic marketing offers. This is a nicely disguised reverse '2 for 1' offer with a spin to connect into the local culture. i.e. fly free the first time and then pay to fly again. Well done to Fly Dubai for thinking out of the box and not just doing a 'me too' promotion.
:ok: The Gulf airlines need more of this type of thinking at all levels.

flydubai crews recently received an email saying that their August rosters will be issued only 6 days, or less, in advance of the start of the month. This was explained as being due to the ripple down effect of their Commercial Department cancelling flights at the last minute as a result of low passenger demand during Ramadan. :ouch:

I think the motto "think outside the box" works in the current situation with fierce competition. LCCs are on a creative overdrive these days and resorting to all "let's see if this works" promotions.
I d love to see how the flydubai promo worked out... seems only fair... maybe will even get the airline some incremental income with all fares upsell and what not..
Cheers

How many days before the start of the month are rosters usually published then? For EY crew it's always 6-7 days (at least for cabin crew)

Ref the "Innovative promotion" It seems to be hit and miss. Some flights are full, others are just half full. Depends on the city pair. KWI, DOH, BEY, AMM are always close to full. JIB, KBL, GYD, are usually very lite. What this place needs is "innovative advertising". It may be happening at the outstations, but in Dubai you almost never see any flydubai logos around the city.

Ref the rosters. Usually out around the 25th, sometimes a little earlier. The Aug rosters were a couple of days late because the company cut flights at the last minute because of "Ramadan" supposedly.
