View Full Version : Guess Where?

40 DME, inbound at 295 kias, tracking for straight in ILS, at night.

ATC "reduce to not above 210 kias for sequencing"

Flight idle, full speed brake, descent profile shot to pieces.

On achieving 210 kias, [I]ATC "resume profile speed".

At least speeding up again helped the profile.

Our lives would be truly dull without the entertainment and skill challenges provided by the talking traffic lights.

Where is Clarry?

Anywhere in OZ

Or just as you have slowed to 250kts at 10000' they say request max speed! I hand over their problem back to them and just say that we are at 250 and thats what we will be maintaining. Aside from the ridiculous increase in thrust it is not going to save much time anyway. If ATC cant sought it out 100miles out why do they think a speed increase over 5000' is going to help them anyway.

Going by where Clarrie is, and also my previous experience in my guessed location, I'd say it's Darwin, :hmm:.

Almost said Newcastle, but they would also have included a few orbits over the FAF. :hmm:

Here was I rhinking that this only happens in DRW. Now it seems that it's de rigueur almost everywhere!

I reckon Darwin - but on second thought, usually it's the track miles (ie STARS, as MattyJ said) that are annoying!

Once you get "reduce speed to not above ___ " you stay that way! And yeah, it makes bugger all difference time wise

(Bugger! You just beat me Clarrie :O )

Where else but the land of the diaspora Pom and Yarpie.
Welcome to Perth.
The road traffic light sequencing (or lack of it) is worse.
