Dear All,

I'd just like to state publicly what an excellent time us 'boys' from DHFS had at Sywell this weekend. Personally, after a 5-year break from any form of competitive flying due to getting thoroughly peed off with it, this weekend was a real breath of fresh air. The new head-to-head slalom format was particularly brilliant!

I'd like to express my thanks to everyone involved in the weekend, both the HCGB members but also all the staff at Sywell (Mick, you're a star!). Special thanks to David, Arno, Brenda and Jimmy without whose initiative, dedication and hard work this event would have never happened.

The overall mood was excellent and I didn't see any teddies being thrown out of cots - which is a first in my experience. I'm disappointed I didn't perform better but Russell and Martin and their crews thoroughly deserve their success in the slalom.

If anyone's got any photos they'd like to post, I'm sure other's would be interested in getting a flavour for the event.

Once again, thank you to all that made it happen.

JJ :ok:

I echo all your comments and it was good too see so many competitors and old faces back again.

Also good to see you on form again and a pleasure to see sharp and consistent flying as always. Unfortunate you had a comms problem at gate six which lost you time on the semi-finals, but always lessons to be learnt.

Welcome back to the fold.

Shame the weather was not a bit warmer in particular for the judges standing out for such a long time.

Excellent, any pictures from the event to be posted?? How does a new pilot get involved in such competitions?

many thanks.

JJ - well said! Shame it was a bit gusty and it could have been a bit warmer, but the atmosphere was tingling with apprehension (competitive, moi?!) and it was great to see everyone just out to enjoy themselves.

Thanks to all the organisers and congratulations on a well run event :ok:

Had a fantastic time and I can't wait for next year. As a first time entrant I thought it was pitched at the right level for all. The weather was a bit crap but hey, it's the U.K.

I have over 500 photos (there are a lot of similar ones) and I'm burning 4 x DVD's off now for people. (JJ i'm sending you one of these )

I would also like to re-iterate how fantastic Mick is as well as Sywell in particular.

I wasn't competing, but did pop down and watch (and then did 45min in a R22!) - well done to all who took part. Shame the weather wasn't more like that which we had on Sunday.

Oh, and yes - Mick is a big of a legend at Sywell. Top chap!

JT: Have emailed you on scrounge for a DVD!

Kevin

Thanks for this. Are you a member of HCGB? We normally get event details nearer the time; I would imagine they're trying to get permission to land at Flyingdales, but I may be wrong...

If you PM me your contact details, I'll pass it on to the guy organising it.
