Hello chaps,

The French Squadron 01.002 Cigognes (Stork) and the 17 Wing of the Swiss Air Force just completed the binational exercise Epervier 2010. Some pictures were taken during an exhibition flight with a Mirage IIIBS, now retired. They are so good that we can't resist to share them with aviation enthusiasts. Hope you will enjoy.

Rather unusual, a Swiss-registered civil Mirage, HB-RDF, in Swiss air force markings taking part in a bi-national air exercise that included aerial refuelling formation flying - what gives?

The pictures with the Mirage III were not made in the same flight as the aerial refueling.

The clue is in the sentence " Some pictures were taken during an exhibition flight with a Mirage III BS, now retired".

Remember when the French pilots would have half a bottle of wine at lunch before an afternoon's DACT?
Pourquoi pas?
They were going to lose anyway!

Are you cleared to prod the 'Deux mille' against the Il-78?

Yes indeed. Some refuelings were made. The probe-and-drogue system is the same as the one installed in the C-135FR.

Vraiment super!

Merci beaucoup!

The Swiss Mirage is, I think, the one based at Payerne, where 'trips round the bay' are available in the back seat...if you can afford it:ok:

There're similar set ups to Thunder City in Switzerland, with flights available in a Vampire, Mirages, and several Hunters(Payerne,Sankt Stephan, and Altenrhein).

Always found the Swiss very accomodating when it comes to taking photos...:)
