RAF Aircrew mk 2 kneeboard - wanted

Just wondering whether anyone has a RAF aircrew mk 2 kneeboard (olive green) for sale or that they are happy to sell?

I need it in preferable good condition.

Will pay good price including P&P.

Just don't forget to get the velcro slip-in patch for the integral kneeboards - otherwise you'll get up from an awesome sortie, only for your Mk2 Board to slip unceremonially down your leg.

I did have a look on eBay, but the prices on there can get quite ridiculous.

So does anyone know if I would be able to perhaps obtain one from a RAF flying station e.g. from there stores?

Or if anyone else does have one, I'm happy to pay a good price.

NDW - I trust you've never experienced the RAF stores system?

1. Stores are for storing. If they gave stuff out they'd be 'Issues'
2. You can't have one because someone might need it. (I have had this happen to me, just before I was going on an exercise)
3. You're not entitled to it (happened to a mate who is a Navigator. He wanted a new blue Nav bag because the handles had come off. He was told by the rather rude stores person that he wasn't allowed a NAV BAG because he wasn't a pilot or an AEO. Work that one out)
4. No. Just no. (I asked for a new Ops Black Holdall because mine had split down a seam. I was catagorically told by the Crystal Ball that I couldn't have one as 'Nobody from this base is being deployed on Ops'. I wish I had that insight.)

The bottom line is you probably won't get one because these are specialist controlled items that go on an issue card. The only uncontrolled flying clothing/equipment you can get now are underwear (socks and thermals). So it's eBay or nowt!

And to be fair - most RAF guys use the civvie equivalents anyway! They are very bulky items and i'd rather use a Bulldog clip for my TAPs or a small folder for any gen.

Second for the flyboys-alternate! Shipping from the states is a bugger, but that aside, most guys I know used to use them over the "green brain", far more useful. Until some egit decided that they weren't allowed!

Is there another kneeboard that the RAF, FAA and AAC, it's similar to a kneepad on the Anti- G trousers, and the kneeboard which is olive green also has pen holders and zips, plus it is chunkier?

Anyone know where these can be purchased?

I've seen them on a few Fighter Pilot programmes, there not the ones that have been mentioned above, but similar?

Sorry the reason I am asking about these kneeboards is because I work voluntarily at my local Aviation Museum and we are recreating scenarios.

I'm in charge of the modern military scene, as it's my favourite and I just wanted to know what type of RAF kneeboard I should get as there are two that I have seen one which has a flip style and another which is like the kneepad you see on a anti g suit.

So if anyone has any of these kneeboards that I could purchase from yourselves and if anyone knows which of the kneeboards mentioned above are used by RAF pilots and Navs.

NDW, Leon is right: the RAF ones have always been rubbish, particularly the early ones with the deformable rings. They are all heavy and slow to use.

I have had one of the US ones since a student of mine got one for me on posting to Korea (before they were issued by the USAF). I used it initially in F16s then in GR1/4s.
