Unofficially it was learned that the accident occurred at 11:23 am on Tuesday, a mile and a half Bacab Platform-A, after taking off from Cayo Arcas.

The pilot noticed problems with the helicopter's tail rotor, therefore, opted for a landing on water, saving the lives of workers who ended their journey of several days in the sea area, and returned home.

He quickly activated the rescue teams to the area and nearby vessels were rescued alive and taken to the platform where they attended psychological support breakdown.

Until three o'clock, Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) had not officially informed of the accident, but it is known that the parastatal staff moved to the marina area to take charge of a situation of land transfer to workers.

It is worth mentioning that it is not the first time helicopter accidents occur in the Campeche Sound, the strongest was recorded November 18, 1998 when two helicopters carrying 22 workers from Petróleos Mexicanos collided in flight at sea, in the Sonda de Campeche, killing all occupants.

It happened at 7:30 am during the shift over from workers in the oil platforms, in which they work on a rotating basis about 10 thousand people, the two helicopters collided, which were rented by the company's state-run air transportation Aces .
