For NVG, just change top cap to NVG level IR filter and voila....;)

Sure. But why bother with any lights for NVG ops? Takes time to put out (takes emergency personnel away from their primary task) and achieves nothing. Only reason it is good is if there is only a very specific area that the ground party want you to land at, but my general experience in SAR HEMS is that the ground parites (even with many qualification courses) are unlikely to always choose the most suitable site. It is simply a matter of them pointing to the desired area on NVG (like they do during the day) and we can land. No lights required. We use the NVG to determine that for ourselves.

IR ground lighting is a waste of time on civvy NVG ops - the use of white external light completely changes the dynamics.

But they look good for unaided ops, and as I have said before - unaided ops are for people with MUCH bigger testicles than me!
