Just had an article brought to my attention by a friend whom I first met in Berlin an awfully long time ago. They were interesting times, doing many trips into Templehof flying at the sharp end of PAN AM's IGA fleet in the late sixties. The Soviets wouldn't allow Lufthansa into Berlin, so PAN AM operated an Internal German "Airline" operation. Have vivid memories of the Bristol Hotel Kempinski on the Kurfustendamm from then. And the Unterbahnhof with all the unlit closed stations

And don't forget BEA's fleet of Viscounts, Comets and 1-11s also enjoying the joys of the IGS. On the 1-11s we flew with one BEA girl and one Air France girl on some routes. Frankfurt, Munich and Cologne if my memory serves me. In the cabin there was a temporary Air Chance label and a plastic sticker on one of the engine nacelles. We had a contract with them but it had finished before we moved to Tegel in September 1975.

Flying the corridors in winter taught you all about airframe and engine icing and in the summer there were the Cbs. But that was when flying was dangerous and sex safe!

Don't remember Dan being at THF. Laker operated from TXL and possibly Dan too!
