View Full Version : Emirates to buy 30 A330-300?

Just heard through the grapevine that Emirates have already finalised a deal to buy 30 A330-300's. These supposedly seat 300 pax, and sounds like a good fit to our "Airbus portfolio". As far as I know they have the "enhanced cockpit" - like the A340-500.

Anyone got any more info on this?

Would be nice to know if there are any substance to this rumour, and when they might start to be delivered if it is true. With Farnborough Airshow just around the corner, I guess we'll find out for sure in a couple of months time.

Sounds almost too good to be true for us on the Airbus fleet I guess...

I heard that there will definitely be an aircraft order at the farnborough airshow this summer, but the type was yet not determined. With EK's desire to spread their wings in North and South America (i.e more ULR flying) then perhaps a 777 order is more likely?
I heard from a few sources that EK want a 777-300 that has the range of the -200LR, not quite sure how accurate that is though......:E

iddle Eastern carrier Emirates (http://www.emirates.com/english/about/about_emirates.aspx) has signed a letter of intent for 30 Airbus A330-300s (http://www.flightglobal.com/directory/detail.aspx?aircraftCategory=CommercialAircraft&manufacturerType=CommercialAircraft&navigationItemId=389&aircraftId=146&manufacturer=3001&keyword=a330&searchMode=Manufacturer)and 30 A350 XWBs (http://www.flightglobal.com/a350xwb). The carrier signed the agreement in Hamburg today ahead of its taking delivery of its first A380 (http://www.flightglobal.com/a380).
No engine selection has been disclosed for the A330s. The A350 (http://www.flightglobal.com/landingpage/airbus%20a350.html) is currently only available with Rolls-Royce Trent XWB (http://www.rolls-royce.com/civil_aerospace/products/airlines/trentng/default.jsp) powerplants.
Emirates will take delivery of the A330s from 2012.

Emirates signs LoI for 60 more Airbus jets (http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2008/07/28/226107/emirates-signs-loi-for-60-more-airbus-jets.html)

Letter of intend for the A330-300's has "expired". This was done on purpose, because they can now be had for much less than when the original letter was signed.

Not aware about a new signing....

A330-300 will likely be ordered if the A350 is delayed. Everybody knows that this will more than likely be the case, but no official statement yet. If that comes, one will see an order soon.

Hope this helps,
