Hi there, i am currently on a aviation design project looking at redesigning a component on the Apache. Part of this project is comparing other aircraft drivetrains to see how other aircraft are designed.

Does anyone know of a site that has photos of the UH-60 drivetrain or have photos themselves that they could send me. It would be much appriciated.

Many thanks

R. Barker.

The link below will put you into dreamland if you like rotor head pictures.

Aircraft in Detail - Helicopter Rotorhead Image Gallery Index (http://www.b-domke.de/AviationImages/Rotorhead.html)

Hope you find the one you are looking for. Not sure if there are any powertrains shown.

Be suspect of anyone that suggests a beltdrive would be far superior!!!

The Canada TSB web site report on the S92 accident has some good info , there are many similarities between the Uh60 and S92

Transportation Safety Board of Canada | | A09A0016 | Sikorsky S92-A (http://www.tsb.gc.ca/eng/medias-media/photos/aviation/a09a0016/a09a0016.asp)

http://www.aerotecdata.com/pdf_files/helicopter_manuals.pdf

Or you may want to lay out $75 for a flight manual , not sure if it includes diagrams of the power train .

UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter (http://www.emilitarymanuals.com/uh-60blackhawk.html)

Or here for only $13 , I may buy at that price.

A good source for diagrams of the H-60 transmission is the patent for the internal arrangement of the S-92 transmission. (It also shows the internal arrangement of the S-92 transmission, not surprisingly.)

It is patent #5,472,386 and is available on-line from the US Patent Office at United States Patent and Trademark Office (http://www.uspto.gov/)

You will need to be able to display TIFF images in your browser.

ronnie barker,

Here's a nice photo (http://www.army.mil/-images/2009/04/16/35431/army.mil-35431-2009-04-16-150409.jpg) of a UH-60 MRGB that shows the LH bevel drive, tail rotor drive, swash plate, mast, rotor hub, and housing.

The patent drawings that plt_aeroeng linked to are not for the UH-60. The UH-60 xmsn is similar in layout, but the final gear stage is not a stacked planetary. Here's a diagram of the UH-60 geartrain (http://icsl.gatech.edu/aa/uploads/thumb/1/1c/HeloTransmissionComponents.gif/600px-HeloTransmissionComponents.gif) final stages.

Hope that helps.
