With a little less luck they would have been prime candidates for the Darwin Awards

Woof! Bad pilot + forgiving heli = decent outcome.
Got to love the Brantly. Hell of a machine, doesn't get the respect it deserves!! Friend of mine told me the factory pilots used to put one skid in a deep ditch to demonstrate the slope capability of the machine. Way more than Frank's little bird could dream of handling.
Try one out should you get the chance. :ok:

First time I've seen someone put a leg down to prevent dynamic rollover.

I gained the distinct impression he was actually baling out.. or getting ready to bale out?? Many people have this tendency to desert a sinking ship. :)

Since it appears he was at the controls (the B-2B being a dual), I doubt his pax would've been that impressed had he baled.
It is a neat little machine. One of the few aircraft to have a tighter rotor/canopy clearance than the X2.

Dumb question from someone who's never flown in a helicopter in his entire life, but don't you control yaw with your feet on the 'rudder' pedals? If so, then isn't taking a foot off to fend off approaching terrain a little counterproductive?

I found this video of a close call of the Brantly 305 driver who fortunately got it under control:

It is a neat little machine.
Ugly little bugger to my eyes, though! Although I note some above like its looks.

5p says the pilot has a motorbike licence and acted instinctively!

Is using your leg to prevent dynamic rollover an approved procedure in the Brantly flight manual?
