A posting in this week's AV WEB mentioned a technique for correcting myopia called INTACS, anyone tried this or know whether JAA FCL allows it ?

probably not a good idea when you consider what is on the horizon in the field of vision correction. I talked to the intacs people and they told me that although it was approved by the FAA they could make no guarantees about the rings behaviour under high g forces. This put me off because of my aerobatics addiction.

At the moment a new NON SURGICAL technique is in clinical trials in the US it is called Corneaplasty and looks set to take over from all the other correection alternatives. It is significantly better than the existing techniques because the cornea stays intact, it just gets reshaped.

here are some details.

Thanks, Flatspin. That sounds really interesting. Did the INTACS people you talked to have any general reservations for regular fliers (commercial jets) that don't pull alot of G's - except for the occasional hard landing...
