Folks, building on the success of last weekend's fly-in (EGSX on 24/04), I have had a chat with a friend of mine with a strip in Stock in Essex (West of Hanningfield Reservoir).

The owner (Bob) loves choppers and we have been in a few times now with FEDA and the fixed wing fleet. He is keen for us to use the field.

The intention is arrival at lunchtime and we will lay on a BBQ (burgers, sausages, etc.,....carrots for veggies).

Leave when you like or stay over if you wish (bring tent).

For those interested, I have posted a rotorheads page (http://theflyingmonkey.webs.com/rotorheadsegsx.htm) on the flying monkey website for 24/04, which is 'aero-simian centric' and covers the day out from The Flying Monkey cohort. :ok:

I live not a fantastic distance away from Stock, it's a lovely little place.

I'm only soon to be a mere student if all goes well, am I eligible to come?

PoloJamie, ofcourse.....if learning by then fly in with instructor :ok:

It's not about distance...it's for the hell of it!...A 'purpose' gives us a mission...else I wouldn't be going to Redhill (albeit by fixed wing) to pick up FEDA then fly back to Essex..when I live in Thurrock:}

Sounds like fun! I'll need to confirm closer the time, as attendance will depend on funds available and location, but I'm keen.

For anyone struggling to find Stock, it's just West of Hanningfield Resevoir.

Oh well, that's the way it is...

We will also have some fixed wing traffic on the day, so I will setup something on the ground using the Safety Comm frequency 135.47

'Stock'...Call Sign...Position...'Stock'

I might become creative and make up a plate with windsock, etc :}

It would be useful if you mailed me on [email protected] to let me know aircraft type and intended arrival time, just so we know whom to expect.

Just a few days left to go and looking a little light on the ground in terms of choppers attending.

So far choppers confirmed are: Myself (+family/Monkeys) in EC120 and Hoopmeister+Parasite Drag in Rotorway. Lord Mount & PoloJamie by road.

I intend to be there by 12.00 noon, so we have a radio on the ground, but otherwise keep a good look out.

Parking is in the recess by the house (top centre of picture) or South of Runway (opposite)...but expect we can 'all' park on North side:}

For those coming, see you on Saturday.

Hi Folks, well another day draws to a close and another fly-in with it.

At one point (when the wx cancelled the Rotorway's trip), I thought that G-FEDA was going to be the only the chopper at our little fly-in :eek:

Then out of the blue or rather on the radio we heard G-EZZL, a Gazelle with Bill and Bob on board and our numbers were doubled:ok:

Throughout the day it rained sporadically and it was gusty, but Chris (who kindly manned the BBQ) soldiered on ensuring we all had our burgers and sausages:D

There were around 20 folk in the end with some pilots attending by car or bike...so at least we could occupy the kitchen (while it rained) and talk choppers.

Let's hope the weather is better next time (end of summer perhaps?) and we have a few more choppers..I will open a poll on dates for the next one, so we can account for all the other fly-ins that go-on.

Nappsfield might also be good for a winter fly-in...

Anyhow, thanks again to those who attended by whatever means:ok:
