Hi,
I originally posted this question (http://www.pprune.org/jet-blast/413674-flying-s61-simulator-advice.html) elsewhere, but Rotorheads Mod suggested I ask here.

Thanks in advance for any help.

For my birthday SWMBO gave me a voucher for an experience in the S61 simulator. The time is fast approaching when I will be embarking on this adventure, and I wondered if any ppruner was able to offer any advice to help me get the most out of the session. Anything would be appreciated, from the comfort of the seats to the best oil rig to land on, and especially anything on the lines of "Don't do this or it crashes the sim and it takes half an hour to reboot".

Cheers

PS, used to fly fixed wing (SEP) many years ago but never flown rotary before except for a trial lesson in a R22 some years ago.

Don't expect too much - the visuals are very limited. I'm sure you'll enjoy it though, and the instructors are a great bunch with a wealth of experience. I'm sure they'll pass on some anecdotes. I assume you mean the BIH one in Bournemouth?

Yes, that's the one. Not sure I'm bothered too much about the visuals anyway, had a session in a 737 sim some time ago, was too busy scanning the instruments to look out the window, I assume this will be at least as complicated!!

Its a gentlemans helicopter, and will be a whole lot less twitchy than the R22.

I believe that the visuals have been upgraded recently and are now much better than the old 'night' ones.

Have a great time, she is a lovely machine to fly!

Revs - That's good to hear!

Fox - Yes, I think it's fair to say it will be at least as complicated as the B737 :ok:
