When was the Canberra phased out from operations with the RAAF?
Did some Canberra's continue on doing high level photography or survey work for a few years?
What bases were the Canberra's based at?

I was asked to put this in this thread. Perhaps someone would be willing to assist.

I read a story about missing RAF Canberras over the central pacific in 1954. The person known as Hudson, was one of the RAAF pilots who searched for both aircraft. He was answered by Beeayeate, who said in part"A successful landing was made on a beach in shallow water about 100 miles south of Kwajelein. A salvage vessel arrived picked up the crew and towed the airframe out to sea." My father was the CO of the salvage opperation. He took pictures of the whole thing. I have the pictures. Is there anyway to have someone contact me. I would love to pass these pictures along.

"Canberra's" three times
"Years"
"Bases"

All are plurals. Why the apostrophes on Canberra's (sic) only? Or at all, for that matter?

Butcher the language if you really must, but for Christ's sake be consistent about it!:ugh:

Butterworth on the Malay mainland, just opposite Penang island was the RAAF base which had 2 Sqdn's Canberra B20s, alongside the Sabre sqdns.
I mainly saw and photographed the Canberras passing through RAF Changi in the 60s but here's a shot taken from a taxying Valetta showing the 2 Sqdn Canberras with their silver and white colourscheme.

It was taken in August 1962.
Later of course many of these RAAF aircraft took part in the Vietnam war where there 'low level bombing' techniques were particularly successful.

You have the right Ppruner. I used to be Hudson but changed usernames in later years. Please check your Pprune private messages. Would be very much interested in the photos. Amazing coincidence I just happened to be browsing Pprune this evening.
