BAAlltheway 30th Apr 2010, 09:18 The K+K Maria Theresia in Vienna. 4* Great breakfast, nice location walkable to most places, and some good eateries near by. Have stayed there 3 times now, and wouldnt stay anywhere else in Vienna. Alsacienne 1st May 2010, 08:05 Hotel Beaucour 3* Strasbourg Hotel Regent Petite France 4* Strasbourg Again, both easily walkable to the main sights, comfortable hotels at reasonably prices - depending on season - and with enough capacity to accommodate individuals rather than block bookings of coach parties. Der absolute Hammer 1st May 2010, 10:27 Absolutely>>>>>>>>>>Munich is now in the bag. Hotel Mnchen | hotelmller Mnchen | Willkommen im hotelmüller München (http://www.hotel-mueller-muenchen.de/) Part of>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> carathotels | Willkommen bei den carathotels | Düsseldorf, Frankfurt Airport, München, Basel / Weil am Rhein (http://www.carat-hotel.de/) I have always found that if you call the front desk to make your reservation, they can be flexible on the prices. I see that KK Hotels have one in Munich also. I have stayed at the Fenix, same chain, in Prague. It was excellent. BAAlltheway 1st May 2010, 22:27 The K+K in munich gets reasonable reviews, but its location isnt as favourable as its equivalent in Vienna. In Munich i would go for the Flemings Hotel Munich City, which is very nicely located right by the main train station, and close walking into the main heart of the city and the beer halls! K x Rush2112 2nd May 2010, 02:40 Hotel Exquisit in Munich. Very near Sendlinger Tor U-Bahn, and walking distance to Marienplatz. Good hotel, great breakfast and interesting in-house movie channel :ok: Der absolute Hammer 2nd May 2010, 06:31 If you want quick reviews, use Trip Adviser. Be warned, you need to check out the bias and requirements of the different nationalities who write in. Eg: If a Pom says the breakfasts are lousy, it probbly means they are cholesterol free. If a Yank says the bathrooms are small, it probably means they only have one sink. If a German says the staff are rude, it probably means they do not speak German. If an Italian complains, ignore it. BAAlltheway 2nd May 2010, 10:10 D.A.Hammer. As you say, Tripadvisor is a great tool when used with care and thought as to who the reviewer is. Having said that, if things repeatedly get mentioned by all/most reviewers as poor, chances are, you are best avoiding the place! Capetonian 2nd May 2010, 10:35 Tripadvisor always makes me laugh. Most of the reviews fall into one of two categories, and usually the split for any establishment is 50/50. "This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The receptionist was drunk and abusive and was talking to my girlfriend's cleavage whilst checking us in. Our room was dirty, there were hairs in the bed and a used condom floating in the toilet ... etc" "We love this place and can't wait to come back. Our beautifully decorated room matched the ambience of the place and the staff who were always on hand to cater to our every whim and made our stay here so delightful ....." So whom do you trust? Rush2112 6th May 2010, 03:29 Tripadviser is useful - I always read the "terrible" reviews first - but you guys are right, treat with a pinch of salt. Unless it's one of my reviews(!) |
