Greetings,
I'm new to PPRuNe and am looking for a little advise regarding flying opportunities in Australia. I graduate from the Western Michigan University College of Aviation in May of 2010 with a bachelors degree in Aviation Flight Science and hold a commercial multi-engine land certificate with a single engine add-on, an instrument rating, and commercial single engine seaplane. I've came across an opportunity to move to Australia in December of this year for a few years and am wondering what kind of flying opportunities i could take advantage of, or if anybody has any good advise. I'm a low time pilot (250 hrs.) and will most likely complete my CFI, II, and MEI by the time I travel to AU, putting me around 300+ hours. My ultimate goal flying wise is to land any kind of time building job and eventually work my way up the ladder to an airline position. What I'm wondering is what would I have to do to get my certificate converted? what kind of jobs would I be looking at? whats the job outlook for pilots in AU look like? what credentials would I need? what kind of work visa would I need? What does moving there entail? What would I need to gain citizenship? etc., etc., etc., If anybody has any advise or even good stories it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
