Hi all,

I just heard the the JAA will start comming to the aircraft once the pax are off and test ALL the crew (cabin and deck) for alcohol and drugs! Is this true? I also heard that they are looking for it now in the new blood tests required by the JAA. My friend swears it's true but I don't think so, and now a few of us have a bet on the subject. Could anyone settle this one for us please?

Thanks

They are already testing us when completing the urine tests during medicals. They won't be taking bloods tests. Drugs only stay detectable in blood for a short time. Urine tests can prove positive for upto 30 days.

Easy answer don,t take drugs

I dont take drugs! But what about spot checks by local aviation authority for flight crew once the pax are off. Are they doing this?

I don't think they are testing for drugs during routine medicals.

The tests are expensive (£50 each) and only done at a few labs in the UK. The Urine test is just for diabetes.
