My local flying club has sadly just lost their CFI as he has passed on.

We are a part time organisation but do training for PPL etc. I believe that, legally, we do not require a CFI but must appoint a Head of Training.

I don't have a LASORS to hand right now - can anyone advise on this? Thanks for any help.

yep thats right.

No hoops to jump through. I know someone who has just got there Restriction removed thats doing it.

It seems to be just a point of contact for the CAA more than anything else.

There is guidance in one of the standards Doc's, I think it's 11 of the top of my head. The type of organisation defines the required roles.

It is not to onerous. I am both CFI and HoT at work which is an RTF/FTO & TRTO.

The Standards Docs can be found here:

No requirement for a CFI or a Head of Training. All you need is a "Responsible Person" who does not even have to be a pilot.
