Ok, so we had a thread a while ago about what types of sunglasses everyone likes to wear and why.

Some people even touched on where they bought theirs from and the fact that they got a pretty good discount from that place, so what i'm looking for is where have people been given a good deal on a good pair of sunglasses?

Buy them at the servo, especially if you are jusy heading up North! Then when you break them just buy another pair!:ok:

Definitely buy them in person - you want to see how they feel and look. I hate buying clothes and other accessories online.

Might be a stupid question but I am presuming even the cheap $20 pairs protect your eyes properly from UAV-A/B light?

Some do some don't, but it's the same with $200 sunnies, not all of then provide the protection that you would expect!

If they comply with the Australian standard they will block UV to a certain degree, there should be a category listed on the label. It's illegal to sell sunnies in Oz that don't comply, but you do see them in dodgy stores occasionally.

Sorry it's a commercial link, but it's better than the one on the standards website.

If you have private health insurance check and see if and how much they cover for sunnies.

I wonder if this works when landing an aeroplane in heavy rain. Must try it in the simulator first. Don your sunnies and just get a technician to pour a bucket of water over the windscreen. Disregard all the sparks from the electronics of course. :ok:

A37575 - I dont see how they'd make a difference with rain hitting your windshield? Maybe polaroids eliminating the reflection off heavy water? But then again polaroids arent recommended for flying..
