Is there a view on the compatability with this treatment for nicotine addiction and flying?

I believe Zyban is not allowed but, ask the CAA AME and they shall tell you.

Thanks

Zyban can cause seizures, which is not a good thing.

I've discovered it is not compatible with flying. I also heard on the radio that quite a few recent deaths are being ascribed to its use, possibly from the aforementioned seizures. BAD NEWS.

Zyban was originally approved as an anti-depressant. A trial of this drug as an aid to quitting smoking [which was sponsored by the drug's manufacturer] found that about 30% of "committed quitters" given a single course of treatment were able to give up smoking.
Since coming into use as a quit smoking aid there has been a much increased overall demand for Zylan. This has led to an increase in reports of side effects, which include dizziness and convulsions, skin rashes, nausea and breathlessness. There have been 18 deaths in the UK so far which may be linked to the use of Zylan. Investigations into these are continuing.
Caveat Emptor.
