View Full Version : Confusion - Class 2 Eyesight

Just checking the rules for a class 2 medical. The words say that the limits are from +5 to -8. My contact lense prescription is -5 and -5.75.

I am confused about whether I am comparing like with like though. Does a -5 lense correct a -5 problem, or does a -5 lense correct a +5 problem?

Any ideas?

-5 lens corrects a -5 problem and so on.

Incidentally my AME didn't look at my prescription for class 2, just guessed a couple of figures (well within the limit) from my uncorrected vision.

Whats the procedure for class 1? Do they look at a recent prescription or measure the correction needed during the medical?

Any advice on the class I eyetest would be appreciated - it seems that the rules are still a little bendy and subject to change over this year.
Anyone with experience of the procedure could help this borderliner!
Cheers.

Guys,

I've been through the whole JAA eyesight thing and have seen quite a few opticians for it... so I'd be happy to answer your qs offline. Drop me an e-mail!

Cheers,
