Just out of curiosity, do the airlines ask or look into your exam results as i am nearly completed my ATPL exams, buy self study but have failed flight planning once and systems 3 times. Will this go against me when i apply for the big boys??

Provided you pass the exams who cares!
It shows dedication and persistence that you didn't give up. Having said that I have heard stories of CASA being a pain in issuing the ATPL when you have x amount of fails on an exam.
Most people fail at least one of sytems/flight planning/navigation. I personally failed navigation the first time. I remember one bloke in the CPL exams failed everything a few times! When he finally got through it was just over 70% passes. He is now a grade one instructor (and thinks his **** don't stink) :ooh:
