Singapore's Tiger to double fleet size by 2012
By Ghim-Lay Yeo ([email protected])

Singapore's Tiger Airways (http://www.tigerairways.com/sg/en/about_us.php?r=SGEN) plans to double its fleet size over the next two years.
It will increase its fleet to 33 Airbus A320s (http://www.flightglobal.com/landingpage/airbus%20a320.html) by March 2012, up from 19 currently, says the low-cost carrier's CEO Tony Davis.
Seven aircraft will arrive during each fiscal year for the next two years, says a Tiger spokesman. They plan to base the aircraft in both Singapore and Australia.
The airline plans to operate 68 A320 (http://www.flightglobal.com/landingpage/airbus%20a320.html) family aircraft eventually by December 2015, and has 49 on order.

Tiger, which recently raised S$247.7 million ($178.5) from its initial public offering, is using some of the funds to acquire new aircraft.
It has moved away from leasing aircraft to owing them, and recently received its second purchased A320.
The airline will continue to buy aircraft instead of leasing them to be more cost-efficient, says Davis.

The IPO of Tiga netted them what? Hardly anything for such ambitious plans.
Most of it immediately had to go straight out the door to cover leases etc.
Singapore airlines and Tamasek both reduced their holdings in the process.
Tiga has not posted a profit since inception.
Yea yea yea orders, everyone has orders, but Tiga hasn't got a balance sheet to prove its business plan, long time since first scratchings. Thats why they have to pay cash for their subsequent few aircraft as ILFC and friends aren't coming to the party.
Their plan is unsustainable, simply raise your fares the punters will run elsewhere. They hope someone will go under to fill in the void, just like some outfit dudunda(but whatever you do, don't say that to their CEO, as he recons it was his grand plan apparently)

The rest is rumor of course just to get your goat/camel going!

Things are looking bright it seems !

channelnewsasia.com - Newly-listed Tiger Airways posts Q3 net profit of S#dollar;14m (http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporebusinessnews/view/1039970/1/.html)

channelnewsasia.com - Tiger Airways to up revenue contributed by ancillary services (http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporebusinessnews/view/1040199/1/.html)

Year of the Tiger seems to be looking good for this Tiger unlike another Tiger hiding in the woods. :)

Bonuses were given. And about time too, especially for those folks who have been with Tiger since 2004.

Sir Donald, are you Bruce Buchanan at all. Too scared that Tiger will make your company barely profitable in the next 5 years...

Tiger Australia is profitable, Tiger Singapore is also highly profitable. No more losses should be made from the group unless fuel skyrockets. They are making inroads in Australia, their brand is now known and are tapping extremely high yield routes. Also note 17% of their revenue is ancillary, which is damn bloody impressive. Yet Managment and certain others are nothing but filthy rats.

Singapore airlines and Tamasek both reduced their holdings in the process.Well they had no choice if the IPO went ahead, unless they bought heavily into it.

You guys really know how to value a company.
Tiga started when?
When did it post a profit?Would you call $14 mil a great rate of return on an investment is it, especially for an airline?

Just keep wishing for orders and command prospects lads.(thats why their flight crew have to paid for their uniforms)

It was an incentive payment of 12 months basic pay for those who had been in the company for 3 years at the time of listing. Captain with full entitlement got SGD 96 000, f/o 64 000.
