PAT Bournemouth

I'm going to go down and visit the school in the next few weeks but having had a read through of the older threads on here relating to PAT, I was wondering if there are any current students or people who have just passed through that could give me some more recent feedback on the place.

Hi there,

I completed my IR at PAT in May last year. I still can not speak highly enough of them. They were very helpful and thorough in their training. The CFI is an examiner himself and conducts proficiency checks throughout your training. Obviously from only doing my training at PAT i can not say what other schools are like and i can only hope they are as dedicated. But i think you are making the right choice to go visit the school before making any decisions and parting with any cash.

I heard about PAT at the Flyer exhibition a few years back as they had some good first time pass results (compared to the CAA average). In my OPINION they had good customer care and give you plenty of notice as to the time of your flights/sim flights.

All being said, good luck with your training, enjoy it as much as you possibly can.

Just completed my training with PAT Bournemouth and thought i'd provide some up to date information. I have just finished my CPL/IR/ME both with first time passes going over by around 2hrs on each largly due to weather issues. The instuction is top class provided by some very experienced individuals that will go out of their way to ensure you pass your test.

The aircraft situation is good with 4 aircraft availble usually sceduled for no more than 3 sorties a day. Worldwide is also on the airfield so quick fixes can easily be sorted during training slots.

From a finance side of view they do not require large sums of cash up front like some courses and its all pay as you go which is excellent, I can happily recommend PAT to anyone looking to start their training as your money will be safe with them. The four months at PAT were awesome and the environment you get to train is great. If you choose PAT you will not be disappointed.

Or go to the Flying Club and sit on the patio enjoying excellent views of departing and arriving aircraft whilst enjoying a suitable beverage and delicious food!!:)

Do they teach ATPL theory/ground studies there, or is it purely the flying side of things?

Another vote for PAT. Completed IR there last year, would echo everything posted above :ok:

Regards ATPL theory, believe it's done in the same building as them under a seperate entity. Give PAT a call, they'll put you straight through to the relevant organisation (GFS as I recall).

Received my CPL/IR from Gatwick yesterday.

PAT provided all the training for my foreign license conversion and were excellent in all respects. Everyone from instructor, to ops, is really professional and focused on getting you through.

Despite the fact that the operation runs like a well oiled machine, they manage to retain the personal touch, and are flexible where required.

With the benefit of hindsight, I could have saved myself a fair bit of cash by really learning all the memory items on the checklist before starting the course, this was suggested, but not really stressed. Practising the instrument stuff, and relevant approaches, at home on a flightsim would also have paid dividends - the aircraft is not the most economical place to learn stuff you could perfect elsewhere!

Finished my training early 2011 with PAT. Since them some instructors left and others came. I went there to renew two times and the standard and quality is still there!!!

Would recommend too.
