hi to you all,
I have passed all subjects to my theoretical IR except flight performance and planning, wich will be tested next week. Im struggling with the great circle nav / and or plotting on respective charts and im doing hard in finding explaination.
When you plot positions on a polar stereographic chart, how do you measure an initial great circle course, an initial true course, - or derive an average true course?
Is it sufficient to set the course triangle to the initial point along a line between points and read the true course at the grid line of longitude? Will it involve the haversine formula or chart convergency / departure formula for questions with reference to charts?
Example Questions ; Refer to Jeppesen Manual Chart 5 AT (HI)
The initital true true course from A (65°N 006°E) C (62°N 020°W ) is ?
Use route manual chart NAP
The average true course from A (64°N 006°E) to C (62°N 020°W) is:
Flight is cleared to Toronto via Atlantic track Echo from 55°N 010°W to maintain FL320 Mach .82. The forecast wind velocity and OAT at FL320 are 020°/110 kt and - 60°. The mean Great Circle track from (N57° W020°) to (N 57° W030°) is ?
