Medical and solo

Just hoping somebody can help me out here!

I've had a look on the CASA website regarding this but the information on the site is vague so hoping some Ppruners will be able to answer this.

Is a medical (1st or 2nd) required for first solo?

Also, roughly how much would a class 2 medical cost?

Class 2 medical is required. Not sure about costs because I did a class 1 initially (due to wanting to know whether or not i was actually fit for a CPL eventually)
Apparently the costs vary quite a bit.

My first class 2 cost £180.

CASA class 2 medical fee is $75 which lasts for four years depending upon age. Then there is the fee from the practitioner who does your medical, mine was $85.

So roughly $160.

The visit to the doc cost me $130 plus the $75 to CASA.
