View Full Version : Cockpit visibility when reversing off the stand

In view of the "catastrophic damage" - (local German news magazine) or "barely perceptable damage" (Spanish news) which happened at Girona yesterday during taxying, I'd like to ask: just how much visibility do 737 crew have from the cockpit. Can you see the wingtips, for example ?

When reversing (push back) the crew are at the mercy of the groundcrew. However, accidents are rare.

Yes, you can see your wingtips. Obviously it varies from aircraft to aircraft but on 737's and A320's you can see about halfway along the wing. It is however very hard to judge wingtip clearance from the flight deck.
