Thanks Wannabe Flyer 11th Jan 2010, 09:06 1) Mango Tree : Located near pat pong 2) A small traditional thai restaurant (forget the name) across the street from the Novotel Siam square 3) Siam paragon food court if you want a quick cheap bite 4) Seafood market at soi 64 Rush2112 12th Jan 2010, 03:35 Too many to name mate. You just need to go in just about anywhere and it'll be pretty good. If it's lunchtime, go to any mall and see where the office workers are headed. One of my favourites was the Banana Leaf in the basement of Silom Centre - always full of locals, good food and cheap as. Mind you, there's not a lot of English spoken(!) Mango Tree, as mentioned, is off Surawongse in a small soi and easy to miss, but it was always pretty reliable. Upmarket, and in Sukhumvit, I'd recommend Basil in the Sheraton. The thing with Bangkok is you have to try REALLY REALLY hard to find somewhere bad! chiquidejesus 24th Jan 2010, 19:55 streetfood in chinatown. they are open all night long and put up tables and chairs beside the street. its clean and safe. mixed of locals and tourist are the customers. Cheap as well, you get a swipe card as you go in, wander around, choose your dishes from the variety of different kitchens Thai. Chinese, Indo, Pizza, steak etc... and each one swipes your card... pay on the way out. Sunday brunch is a good bet at The Landmark on Sukhumvit, The Marriott on the other side of the river from Saphan Taksin (Free boat shuttle) or The Peninsula alongside the bridge. junkfms 25th Jan 2010, 09:07 It is hard to find the bad ones in BKK - Correct but bad ones are also there. I suggest Chinatown for variety of Seafoods, Chinese-Thai styles of cooking. Cookings are made fresh out of wok. Mall foods - You can always find foodcourt in different malls downtown. Some offering international selections. Places are Foodloft(central chidlom), Foodcourt (Siam paragon), 5th Ave (MBK), Foodcourt(The emporium), Foodcourt (Central World or former the worldtrade center) Normal Side Street cookings; depends on what are you having. Heads up to these pre-cooked ones. BBQ stuffs such as meatballs on the stick, girlled chicken, etc, are to be very careful. Noodles, and "made to order"(R-Harn-Tarm-Sang) side streets are also recommended :ok: Many things to try if you are interested to. PM me if you need further details:) Happy Landings and enjoy your time in the land of smiles |
