Was reading this story and wondered why are we allowing this to happen?

The US signed a deal giving India access to key nuclear technology last year ... and you worry about a few C17s??? India may become the most important US partner in the not too distant future.

Money, in the broadest sense, is the only reason......
Having said that, the sale of C-17's and P-8s to India is probably much less likely to be a mistake than selling Typhoons etc to Saudia Arabia

I think this is wonderful news. For far too long we have been saying that the British government should fund more C17's, and now at last, they are going to!
See what I did there:}:ok:
Rubicks,
Why is defence sales to India causing you concern? The US regards India as one of its major allies in the region. The Indian Air Force participates in major exercises in the US and the USAF participate in exercises in India.
The Indians are also considering the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet in their multi-role combat aircraft competition.

Don't worry about it. SOP for Indian programs involves a minimum of three contract cancelations, eight rebids, two bribary investigations and at least a dozen unsolicited proposals from ex-Sov brokers, so it'll be 2047 before anything's delivered. :E

Not only are they buying C-17s, India are also buying a significant number of C130J (up to 17 I think) as well. They will soon have a better AT fleet than we have.
And yes I see where you're coming from as well!;)
