This flight was diverted to Shannon earlier. I have had a call from a friend who was due to fly on this aircraft on the return flight EI917. Apart from being told that his flight has been cancelled, he has been given little news except that "the pilot refused to land there".
According to the latest METAR, it is snowing at Knock. Does anyone know if the diversion was weather-related? I notice that other aircraft have landed there since the diversion.
There has apparently been no offer to bus the passengers to Shannon so that they could get back to Gatwick from there. He has been told that there is no flight tomorrow. This is not true as one is scheduled although, of course, it may be full.
If anyone has any relevant information about this situation, it will be gratefully received and passed on as my friend is not a good traveller.
