The Officers Mess at Jurby has now been demolished. It was latterly the Jurby Hotel and as a wooden building intended to last for only 15 or 20 years it was WELL past its 'sell by date' - by a good 40 or more years. This link will take you to the Isle of Man Newspapers report, with some photos.

Although the whole airfield technical site is gradually being developed, there are a number of interesting buildings still in existence, some protected, and the 'air side' is very much in use for motor sports and for model aircraft flying. Jurby Church has a fascinating stained glass window featuring aircraft and some interesting military graves, plus the grave of Howard Pixton, winner of the 1914 Schneider Trophy. Jurby is well worth a visit if you are visiting the Isle of Man.
