Got to give a presentation on HEMS safety in Feb. I am in the process of doing my own research, but, if anyone here (US only) can direct me to a website/link that has accident statistics for the last 10 years, I would appreciate it.I have already gone through the NTSB website and got some stuff off of that.I need more and possibly in a graphical format and slightly more current.
Thanks,
Alt3.

Maybe that one is better http://www.rotor.com/portals/12/AMSA.pdf as it presents raw data instead of "How to keep it low".

See if you can locate Harlan G. Sperrill, III at FAA HQ in the HEMS office....he would be a good source of information. He used to be in Colulmbia SC FSDO before moving up to that HQ billet. Sorry have no phone number for him.....any FSDO should be able to give you his contact data.

This 1990 PubMed article (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2400382) shows that while the HEMS accident rate in the US is significantly higher than the general aviation rate for helicopters, it's almost the same as that for HEMS in Germany, both for total accident rate and fatal rate, based on rates per 100,000 hours.

Google gives a number of possibilities, including a Powerpoint presentation from NTSB. It's a very slow server, though, and it takes awhile to download the ~2MB file.

You could also try
Waypoint AirMed & Rescue Magazine (http://www.waypointmagazine.com/index.php)
it is one of the HEMS magazines. Each issue is filled with death and destruction of flight crews and paramedics. Its an english mag but plenty of US info.
