View Full Version : Virgin to Hong Kong in A346 - is seat 17A bad?

I'm flying to Hong Kong in January with Virgin. I've just had the confirmation email through and I'm in seat 17A on the way out. According to seatguru this is near the bar. I've not done this route/aircraft before (plenty of London-New York upstairs in a 747 so nice and quiet) so just wondering how bad 12 hours will be in that seat in terms of noise / disturbance?

Just wondering if its worth asking if its possible to be moved or not.

Assuming you want some shut eye on the flight, I would move forward three rows as noise from pax chatting to crew, or themselves, can be quite disruptive. My advice would be to avoid rows 16 and 17, for sure, unless you are a very heavy sleeper.

How can near the bar be bad?

Thanks guys.

Whilst I'd normally love to prop the bar up, I do need to get some shut eye.

May I suggest 10A? Its a little further away from the bar and you do not have anyone sat opposite you so you have a little more privacy.

I can but ask. My client is doing the booking and they have their "travel booking woman" so it's whatever she can get I think. I can always ask if there is any space to move when I check in, but I gather the flights that weekend are pretty full so not holding out much hope.

Spose I can always reach over and pour myself a nightcap :ok:

Once you have a confirmed ticket amd a designator you should be able to choose you own seats on the VS website.

Apparently,1A & 8G are the better suites.

It was SeatGuru that prompted me to post this thread in the first place, I have my itinerary and booking confirmation, the e-ticket will be issued on 6 Jan so once I have that I will do as 22/04 suggests and see if I can move seats on the website.

Thanks all.

e-Ticket delivered, now in 12K. Hurrah!

Although seeing as the flight departs Saturday, not sure if I will actually be in it if the weather stays like this. Booo!
