Yanbu Airport has officially become the latest airport in the Kingdom to be designated an international airport following a facility upgrade.

Egypt's AlMasria Univeral Airlines commenced Cairo-Yanbu flights earlier this week with A320s becoming the first international airline serving the airport's first international destination.

The only other airline at the airport is SV with domestic flights.

Yanbu dive and drive!

Anyone going there needs to be careful of the FRQ change after Medina if you are coming from the east. Jeddah dont/cant hear you, Yanbu is best regarded as a CTAF and there is a no-man land where you technically are OCTA.

Arrange your own separation with the SV MD/EMB's as required! :}

Ground services are pretty good if arranged in advance.

Just to enhance the above post. There is a information frequency listed, which is pretty much the tower. Due to my frequent visits to YEN, if there is more than one traffic at a time, tower would ask positions of all the aircrafts and relay them to other aircrafts and would say "Co-Ordinate" with youselves and report 4-5 miles final.

Sometimes its really fun when a RSAF C-130, SV EMB/MD/A320 and little Rabigh Wings aircrafts are operating there and co-ordinating better than Jeddah Control.

Happy Flying

That sounds intersting , hopefully nobody gets impatient . I would hate to meet a 320 in the air .
