During the dry around March onwards.

Not to sure about the central areas. Most of the mustering is contracted out to third party mustering companies now.

You wouldn't catch me flying one of those little lacky band choppers for quids!

When Does the Australian Mustering Season Start?

How long is a piece of string?

Anytime between Feb/Mar and May/Jun - it depends on the timing and scale of the "wet"!

Obviousely it is the same start time for the plank guys. What are the opportunities like to get a mustering/cattle station job like at the moment. Average hours per year?

Actually, the plank guys have a fairly different season due to them being used further south. mostly on goats and sheep and the odd cattle muster..
The Doc has it pretty well summed up for the northern districts though.
How long is a piece of string?
