Evening all

I wonder if anybody can help: I have reason to be in Miami on May 24 next year for three nights. Can anybody recommend a good hotel close to the International Airport? Also, a couple of decent restaurant recommedations would be great too... Specifically steakhouses....

I could, of course, Google the night away; infact I will be doing; but there's nothing better than a personal recommendation. My eyes are drawn to the aptly-named Miami International Airport Hotel...

I have a budget fitting a 200-odd hour wet-behind-the-ears FO currently sweating it out in the African badlands.

Cheers :ok:

If you actually enjoy the consumption of "food" when the word "food" is used in the classic sense, I would advise finding an Indian or Chinese restaurant.

At least the food there is prepared there and then with relatively fresh product, instead of being thawed out and "cooked" in a microwave.

I have never eaten such low grade food as I have in that area of the world.

Oh yeah and "dressing for dinner" takes on a whole new meaning there.

Scarf, gloves and anorak would be my recommendation for those o-so-lovely air-conditioned freeze holes :ok:

Just spotted your location. Considering the cornucopia of excellent foods available there you are going to hate it.

Grab some Tapas before you leave and eat them cold. It will be 100% beter than the shyte you will encounter in Miami.

Looking on the bright side, todos la gente habla espanol :ok:

Hey XL,

you're probably going to need a car while in miami as public transportation stinks there, during simulator training we usually stay at the Hyatt Place on 36th st. and NW82 av, the rates there are not bad, about 90USD if you show your airline ID, the hotel itself is about 15 minutes from the airport and there is a shuttle service from 5am to 11pm every hour at the top of the hour, the area surrounding the hotel is ok with many restaurants and shopping malls close by, as for steakhouses, there is an argentitnian place called "La Estancia" and its on 41st and NW107th Av. but if you want a better dining experince go to "Texas de Brazil" at the dolphin mall (highly recommended), I hope you have a good time in MIA
you can check both the hotel and the restaurant at their respective websites.

Cheers

Flanigans on flagler just outside the airport enterance (if it is still there) is simple but great food for the price. Ribs are awesome, seafood is fresh and the ceasar burger is a one of a kind. Not too much fine dining around the airport, Don Shula has a fine restraunt, forget where it is. Would be my bet for a great steak.

Texas de Brasil is a expensive buffet serving wonderful food but over rated, and not worth the price. "ate too much "rodizio" in brazil for a fraction of the cost".
