Ryanair's Cornwall to Stansted route will not return in the summer 2010 schedules, Newquay Airport says.

The budget airline cancelled the route in October from its winter timetable. The company, blaming the London airport's operating costs and the government's Tourist Tax, said it was unsure if it would bring it back.

The airport said it was "unlikely" the route would be replaced directly, but added nine daily fights still operated to London's City and Gatwick airports.

Service alternatives

When it announced it was cancelling the route, Ryanair had described the-then £10 Tourist Tax as "unjustified". It has increased to £11 in the meantime.

The airport said: "It is unlikely at this time that the route will be replaced directly but we are looking at alternatives as part of our overall route development strategy.

"We still have nine daily flights to the capital that serve our customers well."

Flights from Cornwall to London City Airport are still available from Air SouthWest.

Air SouthWest and Flybe also operate services to London Gatwick.

Ryanair's flights from Cornwall to Alicante are due to resume in March next year.

See, I can copy articles and highlight bits of it too, Leo! What a worthwhile use of my spare time!

Only joking, of course we all understand how valuable your posts with highlighting are, as so many of us would be incapable of finding news articles when and if we wanted to!!
