Where are we at present with regard to the fitting of Mode S transponders in G A aeroplanes?
I haven't heard much about it of late.

November 18th, Avweb reports;

Cessna rolled out the first production CJ4 Monday, keeping a schedule that will see certification and first deliveries of the aircraft by early 2010. The CJ4 is Cessna's first new design in several years and incorporates FADEC-equipped Williams FJ44-4A engines, a Collins Pro Line 21 four-screen panel, ADS-B out and all sorts of electronic conveniences. The aircraft seats eight and has a Collins Venue cabin management system with BluRay DVD, HD monitors and XM Radio.

But note, no ADSB "IN"- It probably has a very capable TCAS in the "electronic conveniences". No obvious mention of mode S.

Mode S and ADS-B (1090 Mode ES) are compatible relatives [data stream] and that’s all.

Mode S radars are rolling out around Australian capitals and receive all A/C transponders 100% OK except for a few very antique Mode A/C units.

It is unlikely there will be any mandated fitment of Mode S transponders for GA – the benefits are for large hull passenger carriers in their dealings with ATC.

Mr Arouet,

You will find all you want to know about ADS-B IN for the CJ4 TSS system at

http://www.rockwellcollins.com/content/pdf/pdf_10571.pdf
The TSS is the processing platform for emerging Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) applications, such as Cockpit Display of Traffic Information (CDTI) and separation assurance applications for operation in the future airspace.
In other words, ACAS with ADS-B IN

:ok: The CJ4 looks the goods. The refinement of a very successful design!

Have you worn out the Mustang already? :}
