Had some trouble getting in with the 404 message constantly appearing.

Finally managed through ip 67.201.16.181

Is this my ISP or some other dark force?

Possible DOS?

It could be a continuation of the previous attack, but more likely the after-effect of IB implementing a new firewall, which was done last weekend in response to the original problem.

Some tuning / adjusting to work with load balancers and multiple web-servers may be going on.

But I'm actually just as much in the dark as everyone else, as there hasn't been an announcement from IB yet.

Data-Lynx, its an issue with the site affecting users world-wide. It is being worked on but cannot tell you when the problem will be resolved.

Frustrating I know; the site has been up & down like a yo-yo.

I have heard that it's "just" problems with rules on the new firewall.

404 just means "file not found" - you got through to the web server OK, but the web server says "huh?". One possibility is that they're migrating to a new server, with changes to DNS taking time to filter down. Another is that there's a problem with "back-end" storage, with a volume holding the files going offline to the server.

"beck-end" storage

They're not storing beer! Or is it S'African?

OK, OK - next time you make a typo, I'll jump all over it too. Call it a Freudian desire for a German beer if you like. :hmm:

I don't know if this is a coincidence, but one of the games on my iPod Touch is by a company named Playmesh (http://www.playmesh.com/). It's an online game, but it won't work this evening, and when I go to their website I get a 504, Gateway Timed Out. First time I've seen any problems with them.

Interestingly I could get in as a guest using an American proxy but as soon as I tried to log on it went err 404.

I think I know what happened to the server:
