Hi guys,

I am about to enroll with CATS for their on-line course and would like to ask for your opinion about what books can be used with this particular course.
In fact, I have bought Cabair training notes from e-bay few months ago just for my refference and have been using them as a bed time stories just to have a picture what is involved in studies.
I found them on most subject easy to understand so my question is - Would it be OK to use these or is it going to be safer bet to buy new ones straight from CATS?
The difference is £600:{ that can pay for my Night Rating:ok: or some eleven hours of flying:ok:...
Cheers F:-)

Cabair notes will be fine,I got a second hand set of Oxford notes just to give me a different view if I needed. The online notes are ace and I use them 90% of the time

The online notes are excellent. I used to take my laptop to bed with me for night time reading!

The trouble with online stuff, however good it is, is that you can't always take a laptop with you - or guarantee an internet connection!

Try this book: JAR Professional Pilot Studies (http://www.electrocution.com/aviation/#JAR). Most of what you need in less than 600 pages, written specifically for this purpose. That should save enough cash for some flying!

print off any pages that you need and make a folder up

the online overview lectures have nice summaries and are much shorter in length than the online study guides - and all is printable

the CATS books are very good but save your money and enjoy your night rating!

You can always buy individual subjects from them if you like the idea of a book

but the File Print button works fine :ok:

Phil,

I have your book and have read it cover to cover:ok: and now using it as a crossrefference to Cabair notes (mind you I have the older version I bought from you that covers helis as well)
I have to admit it was money well spent as you made it VERY easy to read and understand...:D

Well done choosing CATS, the best study guides around in my opinion... and yes, I have seen them all.

Buying books depends on how long you can stare at a pc for. If you don't want to buy them all, just get individual ones for any subject you feel the need for.

I found books great for on train, bed time reading etc.

So how do you use a high-lighter pen on a computer screen?

So how do you use a high-lighter pen on a computer screen?

Whether it is in PDF or a .DOCX file I actually highlight the important material, and I enter notes using the computer. This does require Acrobat Professional is doing it in a PDF.

It is slower than doing it with a real book (which I still, also with CATS material), however I don't mind reading on the computer.

So how do you use a high-lighter pen on a computer screen? You don't have to with the CATS online study guides, they've done the hard work for you and put the really important stuff (the stuff that the exam questions seem to be based on) in highlighted yellow boxes.

What I did was make a lot of my own notes from these, and pretty much always had my notebook with me at all times. (I've still got it actually and use it every now and then to refresh my memory)

regards D-G

P.S I bought Phils book after I had finished the course to keep things fresh, It's also excellent!
