View Full Version : CX Stage 2 in HK in Dec

Stage 2: it seems like the actual panel interview is similar to what was laid out in round one. Can anyone ,that might have info on this matter, clarify what sort of things will be asked? i.e. will they ask you the same things? will they go further into CX related questions? if not can anyone elaborate on what else will be asked? This seems to be the only part of the interview that can be studied for (aptitude, math&psychology, flight planning exercise...all based on individual personality). And yes I have used the "search" function and yes I have the books...

Thank you!:ok:

Hi Wings ?

Have you been invited to HK for round 2 for Direct Entry SO ? If so, when did you go through round 1 ? - I'm in CX limbo so curious.....

Cheers,

Inbound.

I believe he is referring to the Stage 2 CPP interviews.

Congrats on passing the first stage. I will be attending initial interviews sometime next week. Regarding the interview, what proportion of personal to technical questions were posed? Cheers

Yes this is the CX Cadet program I'm referring to, sorry. I heard there's a waiting period for DESO/DEFO.

Initial (based on my own interview) = know the JKI booklet inside out because the questions on the tech test will be purely based on that plue 5 cx related questions. pretty basic, I think I overstudied this part (longest aircraft, cx fleet, etc)
Reasoning test: cannot be studied...
Interview: know yourself...just be honest, why do you want to be a pilot, why CX, can you support yourself in HK, etc. Tech questions will solely be based on your hours, I'm between my PPL and CPL so it was a mix of everything...drag, aircraft identification (what type of aircraft is this model on the table), DALR vs. SALR, turbulence, wind shear. I know I'm being vague but, studying your fundamentals is key...I knew my stuff but had brain farts throughout 50% of the interview.

Hope that helps, PM if you need more details but since it's next week, I would reall y suggest to review things that you know well and ace that part because you can say "I don't know" to the stuff you know you're at a lost

hey guys

just wanted a bit more information about the interview stage 1 .. like some more questions and ideas on what to prepare about the airline information ,company general knowledge , company history , types of aircraft and a few more.

i have the stage one lined up pretty soon and i am nervous to the core .. i have not yet received the aviation knowledge handbook .. but as i read .. i have a PPL and have completed my CPL theory subjects ( CASA ) , so the questions will be up to what i should know ..

is the aircraft model placed on the table has a Cathay painted livery .. ? ( just a thought )

i have been reading a lot about the stage one interviews . but i still don't have a very clear picture ,

because i received an e-mail from "Cathay recruitment" stating that there will be only two parts to the stage one interview .. part 1 written multiple choice and part 2 face to face interview .. ( part 1 reasoning , gk , bak etc ) ( part 2 personal and technical questions ) ..

is that it ... what about the psycho motor or psychometric tests .. ??

i have also heard that there is a numerical test and a presentation ?? does it happen during the stage one ..

cheers people

I waited 8 weeks after applying and then emailed them. I got the same response you did. Another 8 weeks and I was called up for an initial interview for early December. I'm sure you'll hear from them. In the meantime learn as much as you can about yourself and principles of flight.

What is this JKI booklet you speak of?? Also in terms of asking what type of aircraft this is, they dont ask anything like some wwII biplane or something do they - is it mainly just the airliner type planes?

Thanks! :)

hey guys,

I'm a new poster in this section.

I got a phonecall this morning at 8am, didnt recognise the international number but answered anyway. It was a guy from Cathy Pacific CPP!! I had submitted the application months ago, wasnt expecting to get a reply so it came as a really big suprise.

I've been invited to the first round of interviews in London, 1st Feb 2010.
Anyone got any info on what to expect? What can I be looking over to prepare?

For those wondering what type of cadets they are maybe looking for; I only got my PPL in June 09, flying from Newtownards (EGAD). Got about 145hrs at the last log book count. I have just started the ATPL's with Bristol GS.
