Article here: Plane crashes at high school - National - NZ Herald News (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10608057)

Contrary to what the article states this aircraft has been confirmed as an Ardmore Glasair resident with an unfortunate history behind it.

This happens to be opposite the road from where I used to live, but still have family, friends etc. in the Auckland suburb of Bucklands Beach:cool:. Good job bringing it down where he did, and that no one is injured! :ok:

Another photo on the herald web site shows the rego as NRG i think. Judging by the name given for the pilot it must of changed hands, G.L must have sold it?

We could hear that it was running out of gas, just by the stalling of the engine. :ugh:

Pilot did a good job.

I've seen NRG parked at ardmore in the past back when ardmore had accomodation for students.

I may be wrong but I believe G.L sold her a year or two back. Could be wrong though.... it's been a while since I was anywhere near Ardmore or spoke to G.L.

Flew in her once out of the Barrier..... was a nice machine to fly.

On a different flight out to the Barrier about 7 or 8 years ago I remember being passed by the then owner (I was in an old clunker of a 172) as he put it into a barrel roll...... all you could hear on the radio was his old mans dog in the back howling as he went upside down. :D

Glad the pilot managed to walk away.

I've had a steer of that..what a rocket..I remember the ex owner going over us on a Wanaka trip one time in an attitude that caused his toothbrush, razor...and moisturiser :} all to end up floating around the cabin..
