I'm a civilian flight instructor with 700 hours experience and I'm really keen to join the RAF as flight crew. Problem is though I only have 2 AS levels and my local AFCO has already turned me down for an interview on these grounds. I'm 25 and so there is no time for me to take more academic qualifications.

Does anybody know of any examples where HQ have made exceptions to the 2 A level rule based on relevant experience? To be fair the majority of RAF applicants have little or no flight experience whatsoever.

Assuming nobody else has said it whilst I do my best two-finger typing I would suggest you have a look at the sticky (http://www.pprune.org/military-aircrew/280990-oasc-candidates-wannabes-please-read-thread-first.html)at the top of the page.

You may also be too old (assuming you have given your correct age).

One last thing - comments like this on the BANG! thread won't help you should you get through to OASC. I'm guessing the AFCO may have got it right ....

Haha I would have loved to do that myself! I bet the pax deliberately pulled the ejector handle for the fun of it!
