I was talking to a Romanian who is taking flight training in the USA for CPL, IR, ME. He says when he gets back to Romania he only has to take one written exam for the frozen ATPL. Is this correct? I thought I heard for other countries like the UK one has to sit for 14 exams

Can one country have separate rules?

300 Euro for the lot? Now that's pricey. Especially for country like Romania.

Still a bargain compared to overpriced UK CAA rates.

I'm doing my first of 13 UK CAA exams next week. Didn't have to study for it, so eaaaasy.
(How come? Well, I'm doing B1.1 part-66 training right now, ATPL much later, if ever, in Europe, at least)

Is it possible he only has one exam left to take - rather than - they only have to sit one exam.

I have heard of people holding back say VFR comms to take as late as possible (within the 18 months) - to give them the max timeframe for saving up / waiting for summer before taking their CPL and IR flying courses ? ..
