Hi all,
Has anyone flown from Jayapura to Wamena? can you share your experiences, how scary it was for you? when can you go and not go etc... If you have any photos that will be even better.
thanks
Hawk

I think you may need to be a bit more specific. Wamena is in Jayawi jay'a. (Jayapura). I suspect you are talking about crossing the border of PNG/West Irian to the Indonesian Irian Jaya. You are likely to obtain more responses if you post in D&G Forum. The Dunnunda forum has membership a bit closer to your region of interest and are likely the experts.
Thank you.

Hawk,
Wamena isn't in Jayapura, Jayapura is the capital of west Papua or what ever it is called now, and Wamena is the capital of the highlands and lies several hundred miles south in the Baliem Valley.
Medsdeb,
I also suspect you are in the wrong place - I have flown from Wamena to Jayapura many times. In an unpressurised aircraft you only need to climb to about 9000ft so it is no big deal, if the weather is nice it is awesome if the weather isn't nice it is harder, but it wasn't scary by any means, has one of the few hard runways in Irian. However I think Hawk is right and you would be better on the Australian Forum, or better still with the lonely planet guide to Indonesia, or google tourism in West Papua. All I could tell you would be about refuelling from rusty drums and flying around the baliem valley, but not about places to see on the ground as I rarely got to leave the vicinity of the aircraft.
